Adult Medicine

Our Adult Medicine staff includes Board Certified physicians (MD and DO), Certified Physician Assistants (PA-C), Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNP), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), and Medical Assistants (MA). Our clinicians have specialties in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, and Geriatrics and treat a broad range of health issues including, but not limited to, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma, and obesity.

Monica Mortensen, DO-Pediatrics

Chief Medical Officer
General Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology

Dr. Mortensen was born and raised in Chicago. She enjoys biking, swimming, painting, gardening, theater and reading. Her parents moved to Florida eight years ago and they were followed by her brother, Neal, who has worked here in podiatry for the last three years. It was Neal who introduced her to Langley Medical.

Dr. Mortenesen completed her pediatric internship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Thereafter she finished her residency at Lutheran General in Chicago and did her fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of Chicago.


Gisela Vargas, M.D.

Family Practice

Dr. Vargas wanted to be a doctor since the age of 9 when she would go to classes with her mother who was a physician. She is originally from Puerto Rico and lives in the Tampa area with her two sons. She enjoys family activities, going to the beach and to the movies.

She earned her M.D. from the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico. She then did her residency at the University Massachusetts in Worcester. She is broad certified in Family Practice. She worked in Massachusetts for 11 years before moving to Florida.


Steven Marc Capps, ARNP

Family Nurse Practitioner

A native of Florida, Marc Capps was born in Sanford and raised in nearby Floral City. He received his Master of Science in Nursing degree as Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Central Florida in 2004. He holds a National Certification in the area of Family Nurse Practitioner from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Prior to completing his degree, he worked in a variety of different areas of nursing with the majority of time spent in critical care and the emergency room.

After graduation Marc and his family moved to Honduras, Central America, for a year to help with the medical needs of a rural mountain village. Since returning from Honduras in 2005, they have continued to be a part of missions through financial support and hope in the future to be able to take short-term mission trips to help areas in need.

Marc enjoys spending his free time with his lovely wife and their five children. They enjoy a combination of homesteading and city life.


Debbie Greer, ARNP

Family Nurse Practitioner

Deborah "Debbie" Greer has been in nursing for 26 years. She graduated from USF with a doctorate of nursing practice with a specialty in Cardiology. She obtained a Masters Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from UCF.

Debbie enjoys gardening, fishing, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
